A Curse, some chocolate and a princess day

Mousse au chocolate, to be exact. I had three small bowls of it today but I really needed them, too.

The weather outside is strange to-day, muggy, rainy, not warm nor cold. Gladly, it wasn’t like this on our princess day last Saturday!

Which I began with a nice, hot bath scented with lavender-and-wild-rose-oil, reading Through the Looking Glass (which I finished today, by the way). Jules showed up for brunch and after that lime-and-ginger-tea and chocolate muffin and listening to rockabilly records we went for a walk through the hills and meadows my mother’s kingdom lies at. We took photos all the way long, and some of them turned out quite nice. I’ll show them to-morrow as it’s getting late and I only want to give a short summary of the weekend.

Finally I decided to challenge myself by writing a steampunk novel starring the characters of our role playing crew. It’s working title is The Curse that lies beneath The Turf. I started writing it yesterday evening and I’ve only come to four pages of Word so far… but it will grow, I promise.

Enough for today, bed time for fairies.

Good bye, then,

Bonnie

Buttons and First-Time Writers

Today Jules, my Protégée, wrote his first blog entry and I had the privilege to help him (aka. being his Fairly Scary Fairy Secretary). On Saturday we’ll have our Princess Day with a nice walk, elderflower pancakes, muffins and a new hair cut for him (done by me). Afterwards he’ll have his birthday party, but without me and the rest of the crew (the satyr, the fawn, my beloved goblin and the imp and sometimes the sottish wereterrier). I was quite angry about this decision at first because I accounted it class conceit (we’re to “weird and wicked” to fit with his other friends, even though he spends more time with us than with them) but however I calmed down today and now think that I should just ignore the “I want to be treated as a princess but don’t want to behave like one” thing and concentrate to help him with the other main aspect (the princess that acts like one) of his personality.

Oh, the swapping gift finally arrived in Berlin at Anthea’s, and she liked it! I have to admit that I’m quite relieved for I thought she might not or it would not arrive at all… By now I know that she’s my secret fairy, too, and I’m expectant for her parcel to arrive… I hope the postman’s not too puzzled ’cause I’ve got a different surname than my father. Oh dear.

I see. You still don’t know about the buttons in the headline, right?

Well, I made them of polymer clay for the LARP we’re having in July. There’s still so much to do and at the moment I’m a little concerned if we’re able to manage it all. And I just can’t find my sewing scissors…

I still have to sew Jules’ birthday present. I won’t tell what it is ’cause he’s frequently reading this blog, but… well… it will be… special. *grin*

What’s left to mention?

I’m going through a major rockabilly phase again (well, it’s less a phase but a permanent thing, but at the moment it’s stronger than for example the high fantasy elf thing), I tried to dye my hair today but failed (you don’t see anything. That’s a sign ^^), I’m dying to dance again for I just found my “new” (aka. not really worn yet) dancing shoes great, I’ve got to buy some interface for my planned Vintage Hot Air Balloon handbag and now I’ll go and modify my black double-breasted dress. That’s all ^^

So long,

Bonnie

Exams: Finally Over

When I woke up this morning I thought that this was one of these days that you should spend in your bed, curled up, reading a good book and drinking steaming hot tea or one of the days that you spend with your friends in your kitchen, baking and drinking tea as well.

But as all my friends live about 50 miles away and I had a final exam to write I couldn’t do neither the one nor the other. Yesterday night was fairly stormy and the spirit of the storm was still outside when the day began and it started to rain cats and dogs as I sat in the exam. It still does.

Well, the exam. Maths. As long as it’s just calculating and puzzling I quite like it, but in everything else it just doesn’t like me. Anyway it seems to be turned out at least okay as I had an answer for every task that even sounded sensible. We’ll see.

I also took the Emilie Autumn-swap gift parcel to the post office yesterday and now am nervous whether the girl I played “secret fairy” for likes the stuff or not.

As a little reward for my four written exams I bought a book on crafting from the “Tilda” series and am quite excited to sew something from it. I especially love the sailor suit dolls  (I alsways wanted a sailor outfit myself, so here goes a new project ^^) and the cute little animals… Oh well, in fact I love the whole book!

As it doesn’t look as it would stop raining this summer I’m going to sew some gaiters matching a headpiece I’ve already sewn for my steampunk lolita outfit.

Actually I like rain. And colder weather. Okay, it’s no swimming in the lakes and nearly no running around barefoot but one can dress more carefully and enjoy inside activities. I even like walks in the rain.

But now as everything is said for today and as I’ve got to draw a flyer for a LARP, this post ends here.

Bye then, catch you later!

Little Fairy-Fellow

As I told you yesterday, I met a little fairy-fellow in my beloved goblin’s garden this weekend. He was trapped in a wire fence and nearly giving up spirits for he had no contact to the ground any more and couldn’t move forward nor backward.

I really had pity on him (and I love his species – jointly responsible for my anglophilia and me learning English when I was five ^^), so I got him out there with a wire cutter. He did hardly move for the next half hour but then revived and disappeared under my beloved goblin’s burrow. I hope he’s well now.

Ain’t he cute?

100_0442

God, I love hedgehogs.

Exams: Two more to go

I had the English exam on Friday. It went quite well, I was the first one to hand the finished exam in after 1 1/2 of 3 1/2 hours. My teacher was pretty baffled and I was too for I expected her to be prepared… I’ve been so not challenged by her lessons over the last two years, she should at least have seen this coming (me handing in this early).

Tomorrow will be the German exam which I don’t really fear – I think it’s no overtaxing to demand me to know my native language…

For the Emilie Autumn-Swap, I’m working at the last parts, but I’m a little grumpy at the moment. I didn’t sleep too well this weekend and had quite weird dreams, I hope it will be better tonight and especially tomorrow: On Tuesday I’ve got to get through my maths exam. Natural sciences are not my subjects (never been), I’m more into arts and languages or at least lessons where speaking ability is needed.  But my teacher told me that I’d get away with a “pass” if  I’m able to write something better than an “unsatisfactory” (which would be “insufficient” and up, should be possible).

Well, I think that’s enough for today. Tomorrow I’ll tell you about the little fellow I met in my beloved goblin’s garden at the weekend and happier things than stress and lethargy… ^^

Exams: One done.

Yesterday I had my first A-level exam for arts. We had to draw a paper bag, paint a paper bag and to analyse a poster of an organisation that I won’t mention as I really don’t like them and their methods.

The painting turned out quite well, maybe I’m going to bring forward a motion to get it back (because this is what we have to do if we ever want to see our exam pictures again).

I didn’t do anything on princess day, sadly, but it was my protégée’s birthday and I still have to sew the gift I’m planning for him. He paid me a visit yesterday and started to help me with my graduation dress (as he wants to be a custom tailor this is some good practise for him and we arranged to say that this helping hand of his was my birthday present for last year… everybody baffled? Very good) and we thought of a fabric option for the lower skirt: I’m going to paint white cotton with stripes, just as I did for the Emilie Autumn-Swap.

Oh, and he found his princess name, too (yes, I’m still using the term “princess” for him, it just suits him better). He’s now Prince(ss) Jules.

Well, I’ve got to go and master the English exam.

The Fairy and The Cards

Tarot is something that has always been familiar to me. My mother used to tell the fortune and sometimes she had me to draw a card, too. So I grew up with that kind of… well, dare I say?… magic as well as with nature’s mystic powers and creatures and light spells to protect myself from people who happened – willing or unwillingly – to harm me.

As I grew older my mother abandoned her Rider Waite deck for another one she liked better then. She did not give it to me for she didn’t want me to inherit her issues and burdens with her cards, a reason that I completely understand as I believe that if we use something intensively for years, we put something of our selves into this object, mostly subliminal.

Well, I’ve got a Rider Waite of my own now and I use the cards that I draw at the beginning of a week as bookmarks (because I don’t have any other and I want my deck to look less new, and believe me, it’s not that easy…).

This week I got only positive cards which is perfect as I’m having my a-level-exams this week (tomorrow will be the art exam):

p1020744

First I had The WORLD, followed by the Pages of Wands and Swords and finally the IV of Wands. I really like them and shall surely be sad to change them next weekend ^^

At the moment I’m listening to Loreena McKennitt’s To the Fairies they Draw Near which is (as you may know) part of the Tinkerbell film soundtrack. I re-watched the film today and switched from a quite bad mood to all happiness and bliss.

Tinkerbell is so steampunk.

Wish me luck for tomorrow’s exam!

Travelling

train

I really like being on a journey. Especially when travelling by train: No traffic to look out for, comfortable seats, enough space to walk about if one’s foot has gone to sleep and you definitely see more of the route that you’re travelling on than boring highways.

I’ve got to go by train every Friday and Sunday, on Fridays in company with my protégée (who’s still not started to write in his blog: Bad protégée) to get to the town where my maternal family and my friends live, and on Sunday to get back to Frankfurt and my paternal family.

Every time I go to the central railway station I can see the trains going to different places than the one I’m supposed to go to and think of just taking another one. Maybe when I’m off at university, for the train that’s going there also goes on to the North Sea.

I always loved the sea, but unfortunately it’s quite far away, though my mother says that the part of the clime where we take our walks resembles an island very much: You tread on quite fine sand, the wind is blowing all the time and you can’t look behind the hills so you can imagine there’s the sea instead of further hamlets. The sand also coveres the way to the well that we get our drinking water from (the well itself lies in the surrounding swampland) and the path is surrounded by alleys and wood, so the imagination of the sea rushing behind the things that block your sight is still there…

Emilie and Catherine

Weekend is over… again, and there’s a lot to do for me. Really. Last Sunday I sat over a picture until half past one AM for I had to hand it in on Monday morning. This week I’m going to have my first two A-levels (art on Thursday and English on Friday, I’m not really afraid of these and the third which will be German, the only problematic one will be maths), we’re holding a LARP in two months that I sew most of the costumes for, I want to sew my graduation dress and so on.

By the by am I still working for the Emilie Autumn-swap on my favourite bulletin board. Since my Cheshire Cat friend gave me the CDs I’m quite fond of her music. At the moment my play list contains Shalott, Mistress Mine, By The Sword, Always Look On The Bright Side, What If, Ancient Grounds,Marry Me and, of course, my current favourite Chambermaid. I’m still in the Work In Progress phase of the gifts I’m making but I’ll allow you a glance on the fabric I’ve.. well… striped.

I really like how the colour gradient turned out and tomorrow I’ll sew it to its true and final purpose.

I finally rebound my edition of Northanger Abbey! I bough the book as an out-sorted one from our local library and it tried to fall to pieces. Luckily we’ve got a bookbinding workshop at our school, including a great teacher just like the mad hatter, but as a bookbinder ^^) and I was able to rescue Catherine, Isabella, James and Henry from a tattered, afraid-of-readers-for-they-might-fall-into-pieces existence:

Yesterday we played Steampunk – again, and as I’ve drawn some pictures of my character Gemma I’m going to introduce her to you this week.

But for now, it’s a goodbye.
